On-Line Application, Application Deadline and Application Fee
Applications will be accepted at any time but first consideration will be made for files completed by the following deadlines: April 11th for Fall admission, September 13th for Winter admission and March 14th for Summer admission. You can apply online. An application fee of $100.00 (Canadian) is required. Admission files will not be considered without an application fee.

Graduate Scholarships

Note: To be considered for an OGS you must submit your admission application and OGS application by JANUARY 31, 2015.
Applicants with an A- average are encouraged to apply for an Ontario Graduate Scholarship. OGS applications must be received in the Graduate Program Office (give the mailing address) by January 31, 2014. More information can be found here: Graduate Finances.
Domestic MSc applicants with an A average are encouraged to apply for an NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS-M). NSERC CGS-M online applications must be completed by December 5, 2014. More information can be found here: Graduate Finances.
International Students
Because facility in the English language is essential to the pursuit of advanced studies at York University, a foreign applicant whose first language is not English will normally be required to demonstrate competence to the satisfaction of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the sponsoring graduate program as a condition for admission in the program. Normally for programs in the Sciences, the following minimum scores will be required: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 79-82 new scoring (Fall 2005).

In China and Ukraine the following places administer TOEFL: China International Examinations Coordination Bureau, #35 Da Mu Cang Hu Tong, Xi Dan, Beijing, People's Republic of China; Educational Advisory Centre, 64 Volodymyrska Street, 252017, Ukraine.
Applicants from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh should note that normally they cannot be considered for admission directly to the doctoral program. A student must have an M.Sc. degree from the home country to be eligible to be considered for admission to an M.Sc. program at York.

Cost
Tuition for international students for 2015-2016 will be approximately $19,500/year.
Domestic full-time students registered for the whole year receive a rebate of $1,770 and international full-time students registered for the whole year receive a rebate of $2,325 on tuition in each year in which they have a teaching assistantship.
York University is located in a major metropolitan setting. Consequently, it is difficult to estimate the cost of living, for much depends upon individual choice, interest, and lifestyle. Students who live alone can be expected to pay about $15,000 per year for living expenses. There is a charge for health care for domestic students who do not hold a teaching assistantship. International students are required to participate in and pay for a mandatory medical insurance premium provided through the University Health Insurance Plan.
Any offer of financial support will be made to you by letter by the Graduate Program Director. For international students, this letter will be required by Canadian consular officials before an entry visa will be issued.
