Financial Support

 

Funding to help meet the financial needs of graduate students is comprised of one or more of the following internal and external funding sources: fellowships, teaching assistantships, graduate assistantships, scholarships and awards, and research assistantships.

Full-time non coursework master's students who receive funding support from York can expect a funding package of a minimum of $25,751 (2016-2017 rates) for a maximum of two years. Full-time doctoral students who receive funding support from York can expect a funding package of a minimum of $26,239 (2016-2017 rates) for at least four years.

Funding availability for international graduate students is limited. Full-time non coursework international master's students who receive funding support from York can expect a funding package of a minimum of $41,500 (2016-2017 rates) for a maximum of two years. Full-time international doctoral students who receive funding support from York can expect a funding package of a minimum of $41,163 (2016-2017 rates) for at least four years.

Funding is contingent on continuous registration as a full–time student, continued satisfactory academic progress as determined by Faculty of Graduate Studies Regulations and Program Requirements, and fulfillment of any funding-related employment obligations.

NOTE: Funding for Years 5 and 6 are established by the CUPE 3903 Collective Agreement.  There is no guaranteed funding for a student registered in a doctoral program beyond year 6.
